The Ashland City Police Department is proud to serve the Town of Ashland City. Ashland City is small but growing, still having the small town feel. The Ashland City Police Department is a TLEA accredited agency. We are the only 24/HR municipal agency in Cheatham County, therefore our officers are always available to provide service for a citizens, businesses, and visitors. We provide our officers with opportunities to attend training in whatever specialized fields they desire to further their career. TLETA
A non-certified recruit will be required to attend and complete the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) and will be sponsored by the department. The Academy is a 12 week paramilitary style school that teaches officers the basics of this profession. TLETA covers a variety of topics to include: law and legal system, juvenile law, firearms operations, use of force, liability, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, and a long list of other topics. Upon completion, the officer will receive their P.O.S.T. certificate to be a law enforcement officer.
Out of state certified officers may be eligible for a 3 week transition school to obtain their P.O.S.T. certification.
Pay & Benifits
The Ashland City Police department offers competitive pay and benefit packages. Each year officers should receive a merit raise along with a cost of living raise. All employees are offered a benefits package to include: Health Insurance where a basic individual plan is paid by the city- you can add dependents for additional cost, dental and vision plans, state sponsored sign on bonus paid over 3 years, training opportunities, take home vehicle policy, tattoo and beard policy, paid vacation and sick time, Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System or TCRS where the city contributes a portion, and more.
