Mayor Norwood’s career with the Town of Ashland City spans over 24 years. He first began his career at the Ashland City Waste Water Treatment Plant in 1975. Approximately two years later he was transferred to the Water Treatment Plant where he obtained his State of Tennessee Water Certificate. He was then promoted to the position of Chief Operator.
As time passed, he developed a love for construction which led him to transfer to Public Works. His passion was evident as his promotion to the Public Works Director lasted for twelve years. Growing concerns about the city’s direction prompted him to resign in 1999 in order to run for Mayor. He ran a successful campaign and took office in 2000.
Mayor Norwood is extremely fortunate and grateful to have been re-elected for two more additional terms. He stays busy as Mayor, which is considered a “part-time” position, and is also employed as a Construction Manager for Crown Castle.
